The only problem I have is that it's a first-person shooter. Plus, the challenge level is turned way up. Since all that's changed is the art style, the levels, a couple of monsters and a couple of weapons, I'm not about to complain. This way, I know what I'm getting into without having to relearn anything about a title I'm comfortable with. I feel that Doom is Doom and Quake is Quake. Purists wouldn't want these features added because Doom wasn't about that stuff. Some of you may want to see your space Marine jumping around or swimming underwater. Now before you scratch your head, let me explain. The artists and programmers at Midway know what the hell's going on when it comes to Nintendo 64 hardware. First, the graphics are simply stun-ning-the original Doom crew wish they could've done what Midway did. I'm not about to pawn this one off as just another Doom clone.but this applies for more than one reason. Most are animated and add a whole new dimension to the game.

Remember to take a look at the backgrounds while playing the game. This is no surprise considering Doom 64 uses all of the new features offered by the Nintendo 64 hardware (like antialiasing and bi/trilinear filtering). We saw this title firsthand, and we're happy to say that the game actually looks as good as the screen shots. Gamers may be wondering if the screens they've seen from Doom 64 are actual game shots or just renders. Some of the new features in Doom 64 include: completely new level design, new characters, revamped characters and a whole lot more. Since the healing process wasn't quite finished, its resurrecting powers mutated the enemies when they came back from hell (hence the new look). The only enemy left this particular Archvile, healed and slowly started resurrecting its demon pals. Even though the demon didn't seem to have much of a chance of surviving with the many bullet holes in its gut, somehow the fiend lived. The problem was that one of the Archviles was still barely alive.
